Crowd-Sourcing Innovation for Maximum Social Impact

Democracy or Shopocalypse? What happens when everyone asks people to vote about everything?
AMEX, Google, Knight Foundation, Netsquared, CITIES, and the administration of our President elect are asking people to vote for the best ideas that will change the world.
The above models provide lot's of buzz and excitement for a brief bit of time, but ultimately, a small minority of people win $, the rest of the world gets interrupted by their well-intentioned friends, and the world doesn't appear to change so much.
The idea that I'd like to explore with the group is this:
How do we design "Challenges" that
- (a) deliver real value to all participants (even the voters!)
- (b) Encourages and rewards collaboration
- (c) Provides ongoing support to "Idea-people" before and after the "Voting" ends
Let's talk about it.
Hey, no notes? I'm really curious. For some reason the session didn't grab me but the reportback did. So ... who took notes? Amanda
